UPDATE: Antitrust to check prices of Gett, RuTaxi, Uber, Yandex.Taxi
(Changes headline, lede, adds second paragraph)
MOSCOW, Dec 25 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service will check prices set by taxi aggregators Gett, RuTaxi, Uber, Yandex.Taxi and others as it suspects them of raising prices too high ahead of the New Year holidays, an authority spokesperson said on Monday.
“The Federal Antimonopoly Service is going to send requests to Yandex.Taxi, Uber, Gett, RuTaxi, and other aggregators,” the spokesperson said.
Complaints about a manifold price increase by local taxi services before the holidays have become abundant in social networks.
The watchdog suspects taxi aggregators of cartel agreements to hike prices ahead of the New Year holidays.
“The Federal Antimonopoly Service has started investigation of possible cartel agreements between the companies taxi aggregators, which is why requests about their transportation pricing methods and the price rise (ahead of New Year) will be sent to them,” the service’s official said earlier on Monday, adding that the antitrust will analyze the information.
